Blues Letter  #87                                                                                                           Blues News That You Can Use!

HELLO JET LAG, MY OLD FRIEND,
It's Nice Not Sleeping With You Again

I got home from La Serenissima late Tuesday night, in bed at 1:00 a.m., and wide awake at 6:17 a.m.  Ah, yes.  Jetlag.  I've missed ye. And now it's early in the mornin', and I ain't got nothing but the TransAtlantic Blues.

But I am back!  And just in time for Steve Crenshaw tonight, who comes highly recommended by Lionel Young.  It's their first time in the room, and Lionel assures it won't be their last.  I hear Crenshaw knows his way around a guitar.

Tomorrow night we have the full-on Gretchen Troop Band, and as I missed her last jam, I'm thrilled to hear them all together again.  Gretchen's release she recorded with The Shamans, Raven's Flight, was a big hit in my mother's house, and I'm looking forward to telling her in person how much her voice is appreciated in Italy.  See you tomorrow, Gretchen!

Saturday night, Reckless Red is back, and then Sunday is a Blues Jam with Mark Diamond and Lionel Young.  After two weeks away from the Blues, I think I'm going to have to go to the jam.  Then Tuesday marks the first Second Tuesday Delta Sonics-led Blues Jam, and we all know how much fun they are, so of course I'll be there.  Hopefully Al will be speaking to me again by then (I missed the CD Release Party...).  Next month, however, Dan Traenor and Al Chesis have agreed to switch their Tuesday Jams as Al has a prior committment.  So, the Delta Sonics with host the first Tuesday of the month, and Dan Traenor will take the second, but only for June.  Otherwise, as a reminder for all other months, Dan Traenor has the first, Delta Sonics the second, Paul Soderman the third, and Gretchen Troop the fourth.

And then there's next Thursday, the 14th, or as we now refer to it, "Thackery Thursday."  Jimmy's Coming!  Yes, Jimmy Thackery and The Drivers go on at 8:00 for their first performance at Blues & Greens, and tickets are selling, so don't wait.  You know who you are, calling me at the last minute, whining about not having a ticket.  I'm warning you now!

I now have to unpack and take a nap.  I won't make it through the evening otherwise.  I'll go a lot more into who and what we have coming for the Summer in next week's installment, but until then, here are few photos from my Venetian Vacation.
