Cedar Ave Blues Band

Let us love winter, for it is the spring of genius.  ~Pietro Aretino

Like it or not, winter is here. And what better way to pass the dark, cold nights than with some deep Blues, and we’re gearing up for a lot of it.

Tonight we have the Cedar Avenue Blues Band for their first Outlook gig, and I’m looking forward to it. They competed to go to Memphis representing the CBS, and I understand they made a lot of new fans at that event. Here’s what the President of the CBS has to say:

"These guys were a great 'discovery' for me at this year's CBS IBC since I don't get into Denver much. They definitely belong in the upper echelon of our Colorado bands. Solid in every way and having their own unique sound. John Weeks plays a mean guitar. He and Melanie Padilla front the band and do a great job trading off. She is a little 'kooky' but I mean  that in a 'good' way... a fun way. This is a talented & fun band to be around."

~Chick Cavallero~

Thank you, Chick. Tomorrow night the Broken Everlys return, and they always get the room dancing, so grab a seat up front and join the workout.

Originally out of Knoxville, Diane Jobe brings her band for their first Outlook gig on Saturday night, and here’s some of their impressive press:

“voted one of Metro Pulse best Blues Bands peoples choice 2005 & 2006”

fans - Metro Pulse

“voted one of Knoxville's Top Blues Bands in Metro Pulse People's Choice Poll in 2005 & 2006”

fans - Metro Pulse

“The band's namesake and singer Diane Jobe is like a barroom-blues cheerleader. I think they must put on the same enthusiastic show whether they are playing to 30 people or hundreds.”

Randall Brown - Ramblin' Man: Dispatches from the Leisure Side

"She has the stage presence of all the greats, Jagger, Prince, etc... Great looks, a big funky soulful voice...backed by some of the best musicians you can find anywhere and they rock everynight"

3 Time Grammy Award Nominee - Donald Brown - personal quote

"Diane Jobe can mesmerize an audience

Steve Wildsmith - The Daily Times

That’s some mighty fine praise! I’m looking forward to being mesmerized.

Tuesday is the Delta Sonic’s jam, and then the amazing “Guitar Barbie,” Samantha Fish FINALLY brings her St. Louis band to Boulder! Sam has sat in here with her good friends, Trampled Under Foot, but this will be her first gig with us, and I can’t wait to hear her and find out about all of her travels with Dani Wilde and Cassie Taylor, as one third of Girls With Guitars. She’s been all around the world lately, so come out and welcome her back to Boulder.
