After far, far too many moons, Bob’s back!!! This Friday and Saturday, Steady Rollin’ Bob Margolin, Prodigal Son of the Outlook, is back ready to tear off the doors. Backed by My Beloved Delta Sonics, they go on at 8:00 p.m. Friday, but Saturday is going to be a bit different. Ok, a lot different. For those of you living under a rock, Saturday is the Third Annual Birthday Benefit for Blue Star Connection. So here’s the deal:

6:00 - 6:20ish The Young Blood Blues Band opens for their second short set at Blues & Greens. They’re becoming seasoned. They’ve also been practicing a lot, I’m told, so let’s give them our encouragement as we listen to the future of the Blues.
Sometime in the neighborhood of 7:00, Bob might be opening with a certain young harp player, but the details are still being discussed (which means I planned something forgetting, until this very moment, to run it past Bob; we’ll talk; it’ll be fine). Said harp player would like to donate his tips to Blue Star Connection, so he’ll work the room after their two numbers. He’s too cute to ignore, so pull out your wallets early.
A couple of Colorado’s finest musicians might be dropping by to lend their talents for the good cause (and to get on stage with a legend); we never know what’s going to happen when Bob’s in town...
We’ve also some tremendous auction items, most of which will be displayed along the hallway. One which won’t be displayed there is the header photo of this week’s BL. That’s Mr. Buddy Guy’s signature, and the opening bid is $1000. The guitar that isn’t photographed is a 2009 Blues From the Top guitar signed by all! That bid also opens at $1000. We have a T-Shirt, courtesy of Mr. Mike Ray, from the 2005 Blues From the Top, signed by every performing artist, including Bonamassa. We’re opening that bid at $50.
We have two Pre-fest and VIP tickets for Trinidaddio 2010 thanks, Neil Sexton; we have two from Greeley Blues Jam 2010, thanks Pam and Al Bricker; same goes for Blues From the Top, thanks John Catt; and Blues Under the Bridge, thanks Amy Whitesell! Get your passes early, be a VIP at the festivals, and help a great cause all in one roll. Nice holiday gifts.
There will also be show tickets for both Blues & Greens and Grand County Blues Society shows. And surprises. Lots of surprises. Today at 5:00, Channel 4 in Denver is doing a feature on Blue Star Connection, and I believe they will be mentioning this benefit. Don’t forget to watch.
Before I move on, we expect Saturday night to be a sell-out, so call and get your tickets now if you’re planning on joining the fun! 303-443-3322.
